Mira Dumbuya (Nee Koroma) has 17 years+ of policing experience and has contributed immensely to the development of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP). She served in various capacities including Head of Operational Policy and Planning Department (OPPD), Local Unit Commander of Eastend Police Division, Head Family Support Unit and Head Change Management.
Mira is well known for creativity and her innovative drives. Because of this, she is well celebrated in Sierra Leone with numerous awards and certificates by various organizations in Sierra Leone. Her recent initiative has enabled her to achieve the setting up of the Sierra Leone Police Female Leadership Forum through which female officers will inspire, motivate, groom, and aspire for positions of leadership in the highest cadre of the SLP. This awesome initiative has been the best of our times where national policies are geared towards the empowerment of women.
Mira is currently serving as a Police Planning Officer at the Strategic Policy & Development Section (SPDS) in the Police Division (PD) of the United Nations, New York. Here, she led the Police Division Women’s Network (PDWN) and coordinates all the Women Networks in the Field from 2021-2023. She also serves as PD’s Child Protection Focal Point, member of PD’s Gender Technical Taskforce, New York Central Review Board (CRB), member of Racial Justice Focal Point Network and Arbitration Committee of the Staff Union.
She is part of numerous alumni but very proud of McCain Institute for International Leadership, USA, and International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) of New Mexico, Ghana & Gaborone.
She is also an Expert with Justice Rapid Response (JRR).
She is the Founder of an organization that works in schools and communities called Next Generation Reformers. She believes that everything in life is possible with passion and resilience.
