Laura Bennett

Ms. Bennett is a producer and host of American Diplomat, the podcast, which she began with Ambassador (Ret.) Pete Romero in 2017.  The weekly show features interviews with foreign service officers and explores the human experience of newsworthy events overseas from a diplomatic perspective.  American Diplomat has reached over 800,000 listeners in more than 140 countries worldwide.

A professional storyteller, Ms. Bennett has written feature scripts including a geopolitical thriller, a young-adult dog crime caper and a supernatural thriller.  She holds an MFA in film and television production at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she was awarded a merit-based Tisch School of the Arts scholarship. She has written, directed, produced and edited short films that have won 11 awards and screened at 35 festivals throughout the United States, including the New Directors/New Films series at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

Ms. Bennett also has an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business and works as a professor teaching graduate level courses on business and media topics.  She has more than a decade of experience as a strategy consultant on non-profit and government projects aimed at promoting the public good.  Ms. Bennett speaks three languages and has traveled in five continents, often solo and working as a volunteer.
